A note from Pastor Steve...
Welcome to Connection Pointe ... where our mission is "Connecting People to Jesus and Each Other." More than 4,000 people call Connection Pointe their church home. We have opportunities where you can develop relationships and/or help others. Regardless of the community in which you live, the background of your religion, the disability you struggle with or the color of your skin, we invite you to be our guest.
We have large, dynamic celebrations, but also provide Small Groups in homes throughout central Indiana, where you can develop close relationships. Check out the additional pages of the website for opportunities to get connected.
We try to be the kind of church described in the Bible -- practical teaching, heartfelt worship, authentic friendships, meaningful prayer and genuine care for those in need. We are here to serve Him with you, whether you just have initial questions about God and the Bible, or are a committed Christian who wants to grow closer to the Lord.
Steve Reeves
Lead Pastor
Connection Pointe Christian Church has a rich history.
In 1837, a small group of pioneers resolved to "compose themselves a church of God in Christ by giving themselves to the Lord and to one another according to His Word." Today the church's original mission remains true and expands the vision to "Connecting People to Jesus and Each Other."
In the beginning...
Much like the early Church, the congregation met in members' homes. Then, for a short time, they held services in the first schoolhouse in Brownsburg. Thomas Lockhart came as the first minister and began to urge the congregation to build a church. In 1840, a log church was built and Brownsburg Christian Church was planted.
More than a century of growth...
From 1840 to 1986, many foundations were laid:
- The first Sunday School was organized.
- Ladies Aid/Council was organized.
- The first missions efforts were organized.
- Several new structures were built to accommodate the needs of the Church and the community.
Starting in 1986...
In 1986, Pastor Steve Reeves became the 35th Senior Pastor. Under his leadership the church experienced consistent growth, from a congregation of 250 to the more than 4,000 attending today.
- 2001 - The Church relocated to its present location.
- 2005 - Through the Building on Purpose campaign, the Chapel, Gym and Fitness Center were added.
- 2006 - Name Change: Brownsburg Christian Church became Connection Pointe Christian Church--representing the church's mission and the fact that half of those attending come from outside Brownsburg.
Today...
Connection Pointe is a unique, multi-generational church with an extraordinary vision for the future. Worship services are creative and relevant to today's issues. People connect through small groups that offer authentic relationships and serve in the church, community and around the globe. Lives are changed by...
- over 4,000 attending weekend services.
- more than 1,600 volunteering regularly in the church.
- 1,500+ participating in a small group.
- hundreds participating in outreach opportunities both locally and globally.
Our Purpose, Process and Beliefs
Purpose
Connecting People to Jesus and Each Other
Process
Connect to Worship
People search for answers. The high priority our weekend services place on biblical teaching, real-life application and engaging music empowers people to discover the truth.
Connect to Groups
People need to be connected with each other - no one should stand alone. Our Small Groups develop friendships with others in a safe, caring environment.
Connect to Service
People want to make a difference. Our service teams impact the church, community and the world.
Connect to Outreach
People need to feel accepted - just as they are. We invest in others and connect them to Jesus and the church by passionately sharing our faith and resources.
Beliefs
We are an independent, nondenominational church. We believe the Bible to be divinely inspired and reliable (2 Timothy 3:16-17). All people have sinned and need forgiveness. Jesus Christ was virgin-born, sinless, died on the cross for our sins, was raised from the dead on the third day and is coming again (Matthew 1:18; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 14:3).
Salvation is a free gift, bestowed by God's grace and received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Immersion in water of a professed believer is Bible baptism (Acts 8:36-39) and such baptism is symbolic of Christ's death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:1-4). A believer's salvation is secured by Christ alone (John 10:27-28).
The church is the bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:25-33) and the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12). The local church is governed by Godly men, known as elders or bishops (Titus 1:5). The purpose of the church on earth is to fulfill the last command of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20).
Christians are endowed with spiritual gifts which enable them to serve in the church (Ephesians 4:12). The Holy Spirit, which every believer receives at conversion (Ephesians 1:13-14), leads and guides us. For further information, please contact the church office at 317.852.2221 or office@cpccweb.org.
Baptism at Connection Pointe
What does the church believe about baptism?
The Bible teaches that baptism demonstrates we have received God's grace by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin and confessing Christ. Once you have acknowledged that Jesus Christ is Lord, baptism by immersion is the tangible way of showing that you trust Him alone for your salvation.
It is not only a symbol that you are committed to Christ, but it also represents the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Those who have been baptized in a form other than total immersion, such as christening or dedication, are immersed to become members of Connection Pointe.
Are there any prerequisites?
- Baptism of Children in Grade 5 or Younger: In order to be baptized, these children must either attend Starting Pointe: Elementary Edition or meet with Dave Wohlenhaus, our Children's Ministry Director, prior to being baptized so that they fully understand the decision they are making.
- Baptism of Middle School or High School Students: In order to be baptized, they must meet with one of the Student Ministers prior to being baptized so that they fully understand the decision they are making. Click here for student baptism information.
- Baptism of Adults: In order to be baptized, they must complete the Starting Pointe class prior to being baptized so that they fully understand the decision they are making. Those who complete Starting Pointe and are baptized become Connection Pointe members.
When can I be baptized?
As soon as you believe in Christ, we encourage you to schedule your baptism. In addition to offering regular baptism days, we are glad to baptize you during a service at your request or to schedule your baptism whenever it is convenient for you and those you want to invite to your baptism.
What do I wear?
A swimsuit or shorts and a T-shirt usually work best under the baptismal robes. Towels are provided.
Who baptizes me?
Any person who is an immersed believer can baptize you. We invite you to have the person who led you to Christ or someone who has encouraged you along the way to baptize you, though any Connection Pointe staff member would be glad to baptize you.
