Mini-Marathon Training Program

This 16-week training program will prepare you for the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon or encourage those who just want to exercise regularly.



2012 Mini-Marathon Training

  • January 19 (orientation only) - May 3
  • Thursdays @ 6 pm


What to Expect

  • Weekly group training runs and walks
  • Training schedules and logs designed for your level of training
  • Program & training schedule for those training for the 5k 
  • Educational presentations covering essential information
  • Pre-race pasta banquet
  • Short-sleeved technical shirt
  • New this year! We are partnering with Kidz Depot for childcare during training--provided at 50% off their regular rate.

 

 



Meet the Trainers

  • Michael Smith "Smitty" (Program Leader and Lead Running Trainer) has several top 20 finishes in the Mini-Marathon and has finished the Hawaiian Ironman three times. 
     
  • Jenny Gillespie (Running Leader) has been a runner since middle school and was told by her coach that she would make a great half or marathon runner. Jenny has completed several half marathons and one marathon. She comes from a family of runners--her parents and sister have completed countless marathons, and her dad has finished two Ironman races.
     
  • June Brumley (Walking Leader) has done 18 half marathons and hopes to finish a full in January 2012 at Walt Disney World. June is usually in the top 5 in her age group, which is dwindling! She and her husband, Phil, participate together in the Mini each year. In years past, June held 3 All-American time standards.
